Elite Dog Training uses kind, scientifically proven, force-free methods to make training enjoyable and effective for both dogs and their owners. Dogs are taught in a way that encourages engagement and cooperation, without the use of force, fear, or pain. These methods are effective across a wide range of needs, from basic obedience to more complex behavioural challenges.

Training at Elite is based on understanding a dog’s individual needs and communicating clearly and confidently to build a relationship founded on trust and mutual respect. Force-free training does not mean a lack of structure or boundaries; it means teaching with clarity, consistency, and compassion rather than intimidation or outdated “alpha”-based approaches often portrayed in the media.

Elite’s trainers work with dogs every day, both professionally and personally. Since 2008, the team has gained extensive hands-on experience through running a large and successful dog walking, day care, and pet sitting service. This background involved working with dogs of all ages, breeds, and temperaments, both individually and in groups, ensuring each dog’s physical and emotional needs were met in a safe and positive environment.

Elite Dog Training does not use prong collars, shock collars, choke chains, or any tools or methods that rely on force, fear, or intimidation. The team does not follow dominance or “alpha”-based theories and is able to work effectively with all dogs using humane, evidence-based techniques. Owners are supported throughout their training journey, with guidance and resources provided where helpful.

Elite welcomes dogs of any age or breed and is happy to support owners who may have previously used aversive methods. All trainers are cross-over trainers who, through education and experience, made an informed decision to move fully toward positive, reward-based training because it delivers better outcomes for both dogs and their people.

Session Planning

Every session will be planned out prior to starting, ensuring every pre-discussed issue is addressed. Further sessions may be recommended as many behavioural problems require multiple sessions to achieve the desired result. You may be given help sheets to guide you through training once the trainer leaves.

What do I need for the session?

For most home visits your dog will not require any specific equipment. In some training sessions your dog will require a well fitted plain nylon / leather collar or harness and lead. No chains please as they can cause injury and aren't always practical for training scenarios. If you are unsure or do not have these, please let your trainer know at the time of booking. Any other equipment will be supplied by your trainer for the duration of the lesson.
