| Today I watched the IMDT Webinar on Safety and Risk Assessments for All Trainers and Behaviourists This webinar is designed to help professionals to tackle the most important aspects of working with carers and their dogs and has helped me to consider improvements to my current processes. This is essential for ensuring that carers, the general public, the dogs, and I myself are all protected from risk and injury while I’m working—often on my own—in what is usually a solitary profession. In this webinar it covered: • The different types of consultation • The similarities in risk assessment • How to define the differences in risk • Safety equipment and appropriate clothing • Carrying out an initial risk assessment • Personal safety in relation to the environment • Personal safety in relation to people • Personal safety in relation to the dog • How to bring all of this together for different situations • How to plan and use the results of a risk assessment, supported by case studies I really enjoy watching and attending IMDT seminars and I can't wait for the next one! |
